The day I realized I wanted to do something that dealt with the human body was my first day of 10th grade in anatomy class. They told me I could use my body as a cheat sheet during tests (not literally to write on, but you get the idea). I thought that was the coolest thing and over time I decided I wanted to go into physical therapy. During High school and during the first few years in college, I was the gym coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club, where I worked with children ages 6-18. I attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2008 with my B.S.E. in Exercise Science with plans to attend PT school. After a long internship at a local PT clinic, I realized it was too routine for me and I went back to get my Masters in Kinesiology. I was blessed enough to receive a graduate assistantship at the Adult Wellness Center where the youngest person was 50 and the oldest was 104. I graduated in May 2010 with a MS in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics. Shortly after, I started working as an adjunct faculty member at a local vocational school. I taught exercise science and biomechanics courses while also working as a personal trainer at Washington Regional Hospital and teaching group fitness classes. I heard about CrossFit from a friend. She said it was a competitive type of workout and I might be good at it. Of course, I had to try. That was in June 2010 and on July 1, 2010 I received my Level 1 CrossFit certificate in Fort Hood, TX. I started training with a local CrossFit as a member and realized that I would be doing this the rest to my life, so why not open my own gym?
On December 1, 2010 we had our first CrossFit Fayetteville WOD with 1 barbell and a set of bumper plates with only 2 rows of lifting platforms in a 2500 sq ft warehouse with no heat and one bathroom. A year later, we moved to our current location that’s 6500 sq ft with 2 heaters, 2 bathrooms and 2 showers and A LOT more equipment!
Through my experience with a wide variety of ages mixed with my education and hands on experience, we are able to offer you and your family the premiere CrossFit in NWA. We offer more than a workout. We offer educated coaches and a community you didn’t know you wanted.
